PROSPERO

PROSPERO (pronounced: /prɒˈspɛroʊ/) is an international database of prospectively registered systematic reviews in health and social care, welfare, public health, education, crime, justice, and international development, where there is a health related outcome.

Etymology

The term "PROSPERO" is an acronym for "Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews". The name is also a nod to the character Prospero from Shakespeare's play, "The Tempest", symbolizing the aim of the database to bring clarity and order to the field of systematic reviews.

Definition

PROSPERO is an open access resource that aims to provide a comprehensive listing of systematic reviews registered at inception to help avoid unplanned duplication and enable comparison of reported review methods with what was planned in the protocol.
