Ouagadougou is the capital and largest city of Burkina Faso. It is the administrative, communications, cultural, and economic center of the nation. The city's name is often shortened to Ouaga. The inhabitants are called Ouagalais.

History

Ouagadougou has a rich history that dates back to the 11th century when it was founded by the Mossi people. It became the capital of the Mossi Kingdoms in the 15th century. The city has grown significantly since then, especially after Burkina Faso gained independence from France in 1960.
