Orange Julius

Orange Julius is a chain of fruit drink beverage stores that has been in existence since the late 1920s. The brand is known for its signature frothy, creamy orange drink, also named the "Orange Julius".

History

The Orange Julius drink was created by Julius Freed in 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Freed initially opened a fresh orange juice stand, but after developing a unique, creamy, and frothy orange juice recipe that became popular among customers, he renamed his stand to Orange Julius. The name is a combination of the founder's first name and the Roman emperor Julius Caesar, symbolizing the "royalty" of the drink.

Expansion and Ownership

In the 1950s, the Orange Julius brand began to expand across the United States, becoming a common sight in shopping malls and standalone locations. In 1987, the International Dairy Queen Corporation acquired Orange Julius, and since then, many Dairy Queen stores have included an Orange Julius shop within their premises.
