Norrtulls sjukhus (pronunciation: /nɔrtʉls ˈɧʉːkˌhʉːs/) is a historical medical institution located in Stockholm, Sweden.

Etymology

The name "Norrtulls sjukhus" is derived from the Swedish words "Norrtull" meaning "north gate" and "sjukhus" meaning "hospital". The hospital was named after its location near the northern gate of Stockholm.

History

Norrtulls sjukhus was established in 1910 as a hospital for patients with infectious diseases. It was one of the first hospitals in Sweden to specialize in the treatment of infectious diseases. The hospital was closed in 1992 and the buildings are now used for other purposes.
