Nicholas Mevoli

Nicholas Mevoli (1978 – November 17, 2013) was an American freediving athlete and actor. He was known for his achievements in the sport of freediving, particularly in the discipline of Constant Weight Apnea (CWT). Mevoli was the first American to dive deeper than 100 meters in the CWT discipline. He also had a brief career in acting, appearing in independent films and television shows.

Early life

Mevoli was born in 1978 in Dunedin, Florida. He developed an interest in water sports at a young age, and began practicing freediving in his early twenties.

Freediving career

Mevoli began his freediving career in 2008. He quickly rose to prominence in the sport, becoming the first American to dive deeper than 100 meters in the CWT discipline in 2013. His record-setting dive took place at the Vertical Blue competition in Dean's Blue Hole, Bahamas.

Mevoli was known for his dedication to the sport and his ability to push the limits of human endurance. He was a member of the International Association for the Development of Apnea (AIDA) and competed in numerous international competitions.

Acting career

In addition to his freediving career, Mevoli also pursued acting. He appeared in several independent films and television shows, including the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad.

Death

Mevoli died on November 17, 2013, during a freediving competition in the Bahamas. His death was the first in the history of competitive freediving.
