Neuroblast (pronounced: /ˈnʊərəʊˌblæst/) is a type of cell involved in the development of the nervous system.
Etymology
The term "neuroblast" is derived from the Greek words "neuron" meaning nerve and "blastos" meaning germ.
Definition
A neuroblast is an immature nerve cell that originates from a progenitor cell and differentiates into a neuron or glial cell. Neuroblasts are found in the neural crest and the central nervous system.
