From WikiMD's Medical Encyclopedia

Nederlandse Onderwatersport Bond (NOB) is the national governing body for underwater sports and scuba diving in the Netherlands. It was established in 1962 and is affiliated with the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS), the world federation of underwater activities.

History[edit]

The NOB was founded in 1962 with the aim of promoting and regulating underwater sports and scuba diving in the Netherlands. Since its inception, the organization has grown to include over 270 clubs and 14,000 members nationwide.

Structure and Organization[edit]

The NOB is governed by a board of directors, which is elected by the member clubs. The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization and overseeing its operations. The day-to-day management of the NOB is handled by a professional staff based in the organization's headquarters in Utrecht.

Activities[edit]

The NOB organizes a wide range of activities for its members, including training courses, competitions, and events. It also sets standards for diving safety and education in the Netherlands, and certifies diving instructors and schools.

The NOB is also involved in the promotion of underwater sports and scuba diving in the Netherlands. It works closely with other sports organizations, government agencies, and environmental groups to promote the benefits of diving and to protect the marine environment.

Affiliations[edit]

The NOB is a member of the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS), the world federation of underwater activities. Through its affiliation with CMAS, the NOB is able to offer its members access to international competitions and events, as well as recognition of their diving qualifications worldwide.
