National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, commonly known as the National Trust, is a charity and membership organisation in the United Kingdom dedicated to preserving and protecting historic places and spaces. Founded in 1895 by Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter, and Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley, the National Trust has grown to become one of the largest landowners and conservation organisations in the UK.
