National Clinical Trials Network - (pronounced) (NA-shuh-nul KLIH-nih-kul TRY-uls NET-work) National Cancer Institute (NCI) program that provides funding and other support to cancer research organizations to conduct clinical cancer trials. The National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) assists these organizations in developing new clinical trials and administering their regulatory, financial, membership and scientific committees. It also helps with statistics and data management, Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), and the collection and storage of patient tissue samples. This support allows researchers to conduct studies that focus on specific cancer types and patient populations, as well as new treatments. Groups in the NCTN include the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group, NRG Oncology, SWOG, the Children's Oncology Group (COG), and the NCI of Canada-Clinical Trials Group (NCIC-CTG). The NCTN was previously known as the NCI Clinical Trials Cooperative Group Program. Also called NCTN
