Nation (pronunciation: /ˈneɪʃən/) is a term used to describe a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory.

Etymology

The term "nation" comes from the Old French word nacion, which in turn is derived from the Latin word natio (birth, tribe), itself from natus, the past participle of nasci (to be born).
