Nanjing University (NJU) is a major public research university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in China, with a history tracing back to the establishment of the Sanjiang Normal College in 1902.

History

Nanjing University has undergone several name changes and reorganizations throughout its history. It was initially founded as Sanjiang Normal College in 1902, later becoming Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1915. In 1921, it was renamed National Southeastern University, and in 1928, it became National Central University. The institution adopted its current name, Nanjing University, in 1950.

Campus

Nanjing University has two main campuses: the Gulou Campus and the Xianlin Campus. The Gulou Campus is located in the city center of Nanjing, while the Xianlin Campus is situated in the eastern suburbs of the city. The university's campuses are known for their beautiful landscapes and historic buildings.
