Mononuclear phagocytes are a group of immune cells that play a crucial role in the body's immune system. Function

Development and Differentiation

The development process involves several stages, starting with the differentiation of stem cells into myeloid progenitor cells, which then differentiate into monocytes. Once monocytes leave the bone marrow and enter the bloodstream, they circulate for a few days before migrating into tissues. In the tissues, monocytes can differentiate into macrophages or dendritic cells, depending on the local environment and signals they receive.
