Pronunciation

Microvenular Hemangioma: /ˌmaɪ.kroʊ.vɛˈnjuː.lər hɪˈmæn.dʒiː.oʊ.mə/

Etymology

The term "Microvenular Hemangioma" is derived from the Greek words "micros" meaning small, "vena" meaning vein, and "angeion" meaning vessel. "Hemangioma" is derived from the Greek words "haima" meaning blood, "angeion" meaning vessel, and "oma" meaning tumor.

Description

Microvenular Hemangioma is a type of Vascular Lesion that is characterized by the presence of small, dilated blood vessels. These lesions are typically red or purple in color and can appear anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the limbs. They are usually asymptomatic, but can sometimes cause mild discomfort or bleeding.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis of Microvenular Hemangioma is typically made based on the appearance of the lesion and confirmed with a Biopsy. The biopsy will show a proliferation of small, dilated blood vessels in the dermis.

Treatment

Treatment for Microvenular Hemangioma is usually not necessary, as these lesions are benign and do not cause significant symptoms. However, if the lesion is causing discomfort or is cosmetically undesirable, it can be removed with Surgery or Laser Therapy.
