Mickey Daniels
Mickey Daniels (October 11, 1914 – August 20, 1970) was an American child actor who was notable for being a regular in the Our Gang series of short films. He was one of the original cast members of the series, which was created by Hal Roach.
Early Life
Mickey Daniels was born Richard Daniels Jr. in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was the son of actor Richard Daniels and his wife, Hannah Daniels. Mickey's distinctive red hair and freckles made him a memorable character in the Our Gang series.
Career
Mickey Daniels began his acting career at a young age. He was cast in the Our Gang series in 1922, when he was just eight years old. The series, also known as The Little Rascals, was a popular series of short films that depicted a group of poor neighborhood children and their adventures.
Daniels appeared in the Our Gang series from 1922 to 1926. He was known for his comedic timing and expressive face. Some of the notable films he appeared in include One Terrible Day (1922), The Champeen (1923), and The Sun Down Limited (1924).
After leaving the Our Gang series, Daniels continued to act in films throughout the 1930s. He appeared in several B-movies and had small roles in major films. However, he never achieved the same level of fame as he did during his time with Our Gang.
Later Life and Death
In his later years, Mickey Daniels struggled with alcoholism and had difficulty finding steady work. He passed away on August 20, 1970, in San Diego, California, at the age of 55.
