Michael Greger
Michael Greger is an American physician, author, and professional speaker on public health issues. He is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts University School of Medicine. His work primarily focuses on the role of nutrition in preventing and treating diseases.
Early Life and Education
Michael Greger was born in 1972. He attended Cornell University, where he studied agriculture, focusing on the relationship between diet and disease. He then went on to study medicine at Tufts University, where he further explored the impact of nutrition on health.
Career
After completing his education, Greger served as the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. In this role, he advocated for better animal welfare standards and highlighted the links between animal agriculture and public health issues.
In 2004, Greger started the website NutritionFacts.org, a non-profit, science-based public service providing free updates on the latest in nutrition research. The website features hundreds of videos on a wide range of health and nutrition topics.
Greger is also a prolific author, having written several books on nutrition and health. His most well-known book, How Not to Die, presents scientific evidence supporting a plant-based diet for disease prevention and treatment.
Public Speaking
As a professional speaker, Greger has given lectures at numerous conferences, universities, and medical schools. His talks often focus on the role of diet in preventing, arresting, and reversing the top 15 killers in the United States.
Personal Life
Greger follows a plant-based diet, which he credits for his good health. He has stated that his goal is to provide people with the information they need to make informed decisions about their health and diet.
