Mental Health Counselor

A Mental Health Counselor (pronunciation: men-təl helth koun-sə-lər) is a professional who provides counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. They work with clients to help manage and overcome mental and emotional disorders and problems with family and other relationships.

The term "Mental Health Counselor" is derived from the English words "mental" (pertaining to the mind), "health" (a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being), and "counselor" (a person trained to give guidance on personal, social, or psychological problems).
