The Medical Profession (pronunciation: /ˈmɛdɪkəl prəˈfɛʃən/) is a term that refers to the body of individuals who are qualified and licensed to practice medicine. These individuals are often referred to as Healthcare Professionals or Medical Practitioners.

Etymology

The term "Medical Profession" is derived from the Latin word "medicus", meaning "physician", and the Old French word "profession", meaning "vow". The term thus essentially means "the vow of a physician".
