Matt Preston

Matt Preston is an English-born Australian food critic, writer, and television personality. He is best known for his role as a judge on the television show MasterChef Australia.

Early Life

Preston was born in London, England. He moved to Australia in 1993 and began his career in food journalism, after initially working in various roles in the music industry.

Career

Preston began his career as a food journalist with the Melbourne Age newspaper, and later became the food editor for Delicious Magazine. He has written several best-selling cookbooks, including "Matt Preston's 100 Best Recipes" and "Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious".

In 2009, Preston became a judge on the reality television cooking show MasterChef Australia, alongside chefs George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan. He quickly became known for his colourful cravats and his knowledgeable and passionate commentary on food.

Awards and Recognition

Preston has won several awards for his work in the food industry, including the Australian Food Media Awards for Best Food Journalist in 2008, 2009, and 2011. He was also named the World's Best Food Journalist by the World Food Media Awards in 2008.

Personal Life

Preston is married and has three children. He is known for his love of food and his distinctive fashion sense, often wearing brightly coloured cravats.
