Mark Parker (born October 21, 1955) is an American businessman and the Executive Chairman of Nike, Inc., a position he has held since January 2020. Prior to this role, Parker served as the President and CEO of Nike from 2006 to 2020. He is known for his innovative approach to leadership and his contributions to the growth and success of Nike.

Early Life and Education

Mark Parker was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. He attended Penn State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1977. During his time at Penn State, Parker was a member of the track and field team, which sparked his interest in athletic footwear and apparel.

Career at Nike

Parker joined Nike in 1979 as a footwear designer based in the company's R&D facility in Exeter, New Hampshire. Over the years, he held various positions within the company, including Vice President of Consumer Product Marketing and Vice President of Global Footwear.

CEO of Nike

In 2006, Parker was appointed President and CEO of Nike, succeeding William D. Perez. Under his leadership, Nike experienced significant growth, expanding its market share and introducing innovative products such as the Nike Flyknit and the Nike Air Max series. Parker emphasized sustainability and innovation, leading initiatives to reduce the company's environmental impact.

Executive Chairman

In January 2020, Parker transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman of Nike, with John Donahoe succeeding him as CEO. In this role, Parker continues to provide strategic guidance and oversight to the company.

Personal Life

Mark Parker is married to Kathy Parker, and they have three children. He is known for his interest in art and design, often incorporating these elements into his work at Nike.
