Marion Nestle
American academic and author
Marion Nestle (born May 20, 1936) is an American academic and author who is a prominent figure in the fields of nutrition, food studies, and public health. She is known for her critical views on the food industry and its influence on diet and health.
Early Life and Education
Marion Nestle was born in New York City, New York. She earned her B.A. in bacteriology from UC Berkeley in 1959, her M.P.H. in public health nutrition from UC Berkeley in 1965, and her Ph.D. in molecular biology from UC Berkeley in 1968.
Career
Marion Nestle has held various academic positions throughout her career. She served as the Paulette Goddard Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University (NYU) and was the chair of the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health from 1988 to 2003. She is now a professor emerita at NYU.
