Malaysian Red Crescent Society
Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) is a voluntary humanitarian organization that aims to provide assistance without discrimination to the vulnerable people, especially in times of disaster or emergency. It is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which comprises the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and 192 national societies. The MRCS plays a crucial role in promoting the health and welfare of the community in Malaysia.
History
The Malaysian Red Crescent Society was officially established in 1948 as the Federation of Malaya Red Cross Society. It was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and admitted as a member of the League of Red Cross Societies in the same year. Following the formation of Malaysia in 1963, the society was renamed the Malaysian Red Crescent Society. Its establishment and operations are governed by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (Incorporation) Act of 1965.

The mission of the MRCS is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of humanity. Its vision is to be a leading humanitarian organization in Malaysia, recognized for its commitment to excellence, reliability, and effectiveness in delivering humanitarian services.
