Maestro Dobel Tequila is a brand of tequila produced by Maestro Dobel, a company based in Mexico. The brand was introduced in 2008 and is known for its high-quality, handcrafted tequilas. Maestro Dobel Tequila is made from 100% blue agave and is distilled in small batches to ensure quality and consistency.
History
Maestro Dobel Tequila was founded by Juan Domingo Beckmann Legorreta, a member of the Beckmann family, which has a long history in the tequila industry. The brand was created to offer a premium tequila that combines traditional methods with modern innovation. The name "Dobel" is derived from the first syllables of Domingo Beckmann Legorreta's first and last names.
Production Process
The production of Maestro Dobel Tequila begins with the harvesting of mature blue agave plants, which are grown in the rich volcanic soil of the Jalisco region. The agave hearts, or piñas, are then slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens to convert the starches into fermentable sugars. After cooking, the agave is crushed to extract the juice, which is then fermented using a proprietary yeast strain.
The fermented juice is distilled twice in copper pot stills to produce a high-proof tequila. The tequila is then aged in oak barrels for varying lengths of time, depending on the desired style. Maestro Dobel offers several variants, including Silver, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo.
Variants
- Silver: Also known as Blanco, this tequila is unaged and bottled immediately after distillation. It has a clear appearance and a fresh, crisp flavor with notes of citrus and agave.
- Reposado: Aged for a minimum of two months but less than a year in oak barrels. It has a light golden color and a smooth, balanced flavor with hints of vanilla and caramel.
- Añejo: Aged for at least one year but less than three years in oak barrels. It has a rich amber color and a complex flavor profile with notes of oak, chocolate, and spice.
- Extra Añejo: Aged for more than three years in oak barrels. It has a deep amber color and a sophisticated flavor with layers of dried fruit, nuts, and oak.
Awards and Recognition
Maestro Dobel Tequila has received numerous awards and accolades for its quality and craftsmanship. It is highly regarded by tequila enthusiasts and has been featured in various publications and competitions.
