Luke Kunin

American ice hockey player
Luke Kunin (born December 4, 1997) is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the first round, 15th overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Early life[edit]
Kunin was born in Chesterfield, Missouri. He played minor hockey in the St. Louis area before joining the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP).
Playing career[edit]
College[edit]
Kunin played college hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Conference. During his time with the Badgers, he served as team captain and was known for his leadership and scoring ability.
Professional[edit]
Kunin signed his entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild in 2017. He made his NHL debut on October 14, 2017, against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Kunin scored his first NHL goal on October 26, 2017, against the New York Islanders.
In October 2020, Kunin was traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Nick Bonino and draft picks. He played two seasons with the Predators before being traded to the San Jose Sharks in July 2022.
International play[edit]
Kunin has represented the United States at various international levels. He played in the IIHF World U18 Championships and the IIHF World Junior Championships, winning gold medals in both tournaments.
Personal life[edit]
Kunin has been an advocate for Type 1 diabetes awareness, a condition he was diagnosed with at a young age. He often participates in community events and fundraisers to support diabetes research.
