Lordi
Lordi[edit]

Lordi is a Finnish hard rock and heavy metal band, known for their elaborate monster costumes and theatrical stage performances. The band was formed in 1992 by the lead singer, songwriter, and costume designer Mr. Lordi. They gained international fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with their song "Hard Rock Hallelujah".
History[edit]
Formation and Early Years[edit]
Lordi was founded in 1992 by Mr. Lordi (Tomi Petteri Putaansuu) in Rovaniemi, Finland. Initially, the band was a solo project, but it soon expanded to include other members. The original lineup included Mr. Lordi, Amen (guitar), G-Stealer (bass), and Enary (keyboards).
Rise to Fame[edit]

Lordi's breakthrough came with their debut album, Get Heavy, released in 2002. The album featured the hit single "Would You Love a Monsterman?" which became a major success in Finland. Their unique blend of hard rock and theatrical horror elements quickly garnered them a dedicated fan base.
Eurovision Success[edit]
In 2006, Lordi represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Hard Rock Hallelujah". Their performance, complete with pyrotechnics and monster costumes, captivated audiences and led to their victory, marking Finland's first win in the contest's history.
Musical Style and Influences[edit]
Lordi's music is characterized by a combination of hard rock, heavy metal, and shock rock elements. Their sound is heavily influenced by bands such as KISS, Alice Cooper, and Twisted Sister. The band is known for their catchy melodies, anthemic choruses, and horror-themed lyrics.
Costumes and Stage Shows[edit]

A defining feature of Lordi is their elaborate monster costumes, which are designed by Mr. Lordi himself. Each band member has a unique character with a distinct backstory. The costumes are integral to their live performances, which often include pyrotechnics, special effects, and theatrical elements.
