List of cities in Kansas is a comprehensive catalog of the municipalities in the U.S. state of Kansas. Kansas is divided into 105 counties with 628 cities. The cities are classified into three types: first class, second class, and third class.

Classification of Cities

In Kansas, cities are categorized based on their population. A city of the first class has a population of over 15,000; a city of the second class has a population between 2,000 and 15,000; and a city of the third class has a population of less than 2,000.

  • Kansas City - Kansas City is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area and is known for its barbecue and jazz music.

Second Class Cities

  • Lawrence - Home to the University of Kansas, Lawrence is known for its vibrant arts scene.
  • Manhattan - Manhattan is the location of Kansas State University and is known as "The Little Apple."

Third Class Cities

  • Burlington - Burlington is the county seat of Coffey County and is known for the Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station.
  • Herington - Herington is a small city in Dickinson and Morris counties.
