List of Jeolla Dishes
1. Bibimbap: A popular Korean dish that originated from Jeolla. It consists of warm rice topped with sautéed and seasoned vegetables, chili pepper paste, soy sauce, or fermented soybean paste. A raw or fried egg and sliced meat are common additions.
2. Doenjang jjigae: A representative Korean stew made with fermented soybean paste (doenjang), vegetables, mushrooms, and tofu. It is a staple in Korean traditional meals and has a deep, rich flavor.
3. Galbi: A variety of grilled dishes in Korean cuisine that are made with marinated pork or beef ribs in a ganjang-based sauce (Korean soy sauce).
4. Kimchi: A staple in Korean cuisine, is a traditional side dish of salted and fermented vegetables, such as napa cabbage and Korean radish.
5. Sundubu jjigae: A hot and spicy jjigae (stew) made with uncurdled dubu (tofu), seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, onion, and chili powder. The dish is assembled and cooked directly in the serving vessel.
6. Samgyetang: A soup made of chicken, ginseng, sweet rice, jujube fruits, garlic, and ginger. It is especially popular to eat this chicken soup on sambok (삼복) days, which are three distinct days of the lunar calendar—Chobok (초복), Jungbok (중복), and Malbok (말복).
7. Hoe: A raw fish dish in Korean cuisine. It can be either grilled (grilled hoe) or served raw (raw hoe).
8. Guk: A class of soup-like dishes in Korean cuisine. Guk is often made with meats, shellfish and vegetables.
