Seventh astrological sign in the zodiac

Libra (♎︎) is the seventh astrological sign in the zodiac. It spans 180°–210° celestial longitude. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun transits this sign on average between September 23 and October 22. The symbol of the scales is based on the Scales of Justice held by Themis, the Greek personification of divine law and custom. She became the inspiration for modern depictions of Lady Justice. Libra is the only zodiac sign represented by an inanimate object, the other eleven signs are represented either as an animal or mythological characters throughout history.

Characteristics

Libra is an air sign and is ruled by the planet Venus. It is considered a cardinal sign, which means it is associated with initiation, leadership, and action. Libras are known for their love of balance, harmony, and beauty. They are often seen as diplomatic, charming, and sociable individuals who seek fairness and equality in their interactions with others.

Mythology

In Greek mythology, Libra is often associated with Astraea, the daughter of Zeus and Themis. Astraea was the last immortal to live among humans during the Golden Age, and she ascended to the heavens to become the constellation Virgo. The scales she carried became the constellation Libra.

Astrology

In astrology, Libra is considered a positive, masculine sign. It is one of the four cardinal signs, along with Aries, Cancer, and Capricorn. People born under this sign are believed to be diplomatic, charming, and sociable. They are also thought to have a strong sense of justice and a desire for harmony in their relationships.
