Lattice (pronounced: /ˈlætɪs/) is a term used in various fields of medicine to describe a crisscross or interlaced structure. The term is derived from the Old French lattis, meaning a framework or structure.
In Ophthalmology
In Ophthalmology, Lattice degeneration is a disease of the human eye wherein the peripheral retina becomes atrophic in a lattice pattern and may develop tears, breaks, or holes, which may further progress to retinal detachment. It is an important cause of retinal detachment in young myopic individuals.
In Pathology
In Pathology, Lattice corneal dystrophy type is a rare form of human corneal dystrophy. Its primary symptom is the formation of amyloid deposits forming a lattice-like pattern in the cornea.
In Radiology
In Radiology, Lattice-like calcification is a term used to describe a pattern of calcification seen in certain diseases such as Ovarian cancer and Pneumoconiosis.
