Mexican-American War[edit]

The Mexican-American War (1846–1848) was a conflict between the United States and Mexico, resulting in significant territorial gains for the United States. The last surviving veteran of this war was Owen Thomas Edgar, who died in 1929. Edgar's life and service are emblematic of the era of American expansionism.

The Spanish-American War (1898) was a brief conflict between the United States and Spain, resulting in the U.S. gaining territories in the western Pacific and Latin America. The last surviving veteran of this war was Nathan E. Cook, who died in 1992 at the age of 106.

World War I[edit]

World War I (1914–1918) involved many nations, including the United States, which joined the conflict in 1917. The last surviving American veteran of World War I was Frank Buckles, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 110.
