The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) is a government agency in South Korea responsible for public health and disease control. It plays a crucial role in managing infectious diseases, conducting research, and implementing health policies to protect the health of the population.
History
The KDCA was established in 2004 as the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). It was reorganized and renamed as the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in September 2020 to enhance its capabilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Functions
The KDCA is tasked with a variety of functions, including:
- Disease Surveillance: Monitoring and tracking the spread of infectious diseases within South Korea.
