Khulna Medical College (pronunciation: kʰulnaː med̪iːkəl kɔːlɪd͡ʒ) is a government medical college in Khulna, the third-largest city in Bangladesh. It is affiliated with the University of Rajshahi and is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
Etymology
The name "Khulna Medical College" is derived from its location in the city of Khulna, Bangladesh. The term "medical college" is commonly used in South Asia to denote institutions that provide medical education leading to the MBBS degree.
History
Khulna Medical College was established in 1990. It is one of the 36 government medical colleges in Bangladesh. The college is located in the district Sadar of Khulna city. It offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. A one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
