History
The Juilliard School was founded in 1905 as the Institute of Musical Art by Dr. Frank Damrosch. In 1926, it merged with the Juilliard Graduate School, which was established by Augustus Juilliard's bequest to advance music education. The combined institution was named the Juilliard School of Music, and later simply the Juilliard School.
