José M. Hernández is a former NASA astronaut of Mexican-American heritage, known for his journey from a migrant farm worker to space. His persistence paid off, and he flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery on the STS-128 mission in 2009. The mission's primary objectives included delivering supplies and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS).
