Johnnie Walker is a brand of Scotch whisky now owned by Diageo that originated in the Scottish town of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The brand was first established by grocer John Walker in 1820. It is the most widely distributed brand of blended Scotch whisky in the world, sold in almost every country and with annual sales of over 130 million bottles.

History

Johnnie Walker's history began in 1820 when John Walker, a grocer in Kilmarnock, started selling whisky. After his death in 1857, his son Alexander Walker and grandson Alexander Walker II expanded the business. The brand's iconic square bottle was introduced in 1860, which helped reduce breakages during transport. The slanted label, introduced in 1870, allowed for larger text and made the brand more recognizable.

Products

Johnnie Walker offers a range of whiskies, each with its own distinct flavor profile. The primary products include:

Marketing

Johnnie Walker is known for its distinctive marketing campaigns, including the "Keep Walking" slogan introduced in 1999. The brand's logo, a striding man, was created in 1908 by cartoonist Tom Browne and has become one of the most recognized logos in the world.

Awards

Johnnie Walker has received numerous awards over the years, including several gold medals at the International Wine and Spirit Competition and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
