Jinkx Monsoon (born September 18, 1987) is an American drag performer, actor, and singer. She is best known for winning the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race and for her work in theatre and music.
Early Life
Jinkx Monsoon was born Jerick Hoffer in Portland, Oregon. She discovered her passion for performing arts at a young age and pursued a degree in theatre from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington.
Career
Drag Performance
Jinkx Monsoon began performing in drag at the age of 15. She gained significant recognition after winning the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2013. Her unique style, characterized by her comedic timing and vintage aesthetic, set her apart from other contestants.
Theatre
Jinkx Monsoon has appeared in various theatrical productions. Notably, she starred in the title role of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and in the original musical The Vaudevillians, which she co-created with her music partner, Major Scales.
