Jever Brewery (officially known as Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever) is a prominent brewery located in Jever, a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. The brewery is renowned for its distinctive Pilsner beer, known as Jever Pilsener.
History[edit]
The Jever Brewery was founded in 1848 by Diedrich König. Over the years, the brewery has undergone several ownership changes and expansions. In 1922, the brewery was acquired by Theodor Fetköter, who significantly modernized the production facilities. The brewery continued to grow and was eventually acquired by the Radeberger Group, a subsidiary of the Dr. Oetker company.
Production[edit]
Jever Brewery produces approximately 1 million hectoliters of beer annually. The brewery is particularly famous for its Jever Pilsener, a Pilsner-style beer that is characterized by its dry, hoppy flavor. The water used in the brewing process is sourced from the brewery's own well, which is known for its purity and mineral content.
Products[edit]
The primary product of Jever Brewery is Jever Pilsener. In addition to this flagship beer, the brewery also produces other varieties, including:
- Jever Fun - a non-alcoholic Pilsner
- Jever Light - a lighter version of the traditional Pilsner
- Jever Maibock - a seasonal beer available in the spring
Tours and Visits[edit]
The Jever Brewery offers guided tours for visitors, providing insights into the brewing process and the history of the brewery. The tours typically include a visit to the brewing facilities, the bottling plant, and a tasting session.
