Jaime Harrison

Jaime Harrison was raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina, by his mother and grandparents. He attended Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, where he was actively involved in the student government. Harrison went on to attend Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After Yale, he attended Georgetown University Law Center, earning his Juris Doctor.

Political Career

Harrison's political career began as a staffer for Representative Jim Clyburn, where he gained significant experience in legislative affairs. He later served as the executive director of the House Democratic Caucus.

In 2013, Harrison became the chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, a position he held until 2017. During his tenure, he focused on rebuilding the party's infrastructure and outreach efforts, although the party faced challenges in gaining significant political ground in a predominantly Republican state.

In 2020, Harrison ran for the United States Senate against incumbent Lindsey Graham. His campaign received national attention and set fundraising records, raising over $100 million. Despite the financial support and a vigorous campaign, Harrison was defeated in the November election.

DNC Chairmanship

In January 2021, Jaime Harrison was elected as the chair of the Democratic National Committee.
