Itsu

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

Itsu is a British chain of Asian-inspired fast food shops and restaurants, and a grocery company.

History

Itsu was founded by Julian Metcalfe, a co-founder of sandwich chain Pret a Manger, and Clive Schlee. The first shop opened in Chelsea, London in 1997. The company has 70 stores across the United Kingdom, and opened its first United States store in Boston in 2015.

Menu

Itsu's menu includes sushi, salads, noodle soups, rice bowls, and frozen yogurt. The company promotes a healthy eating ethos and focuses on low-fat, low-calorie foods. Itsu has a policy of preparing food fresh every day, and unsold food is donated to charities and shelters at the end of the day.

Grocery

In addition to its restaurants and fast food shops, Itsu operates a grocery company. Itsu Grocery's products include Asian-inspired broths, noodles, and rice bowls, and are sold in supermarkets throughout the United Kingdom.

Criticism

Itsu has faced criticism for its employment practices, including allegations of poor working conditions and low pay. The company has also been criticized for its food labelling, with some customers claiming that the nutritional information is misleading.
