International Men's Health Week

International Men's Health Week (IMHW) /ɪntərˈnæʃənəl mɛnz hɛlθ wi:k/ is an annual event that aims to raise awareness of men's health issues and encourage men to take proactive steps towards their health and wellbeing.

Etymology

The term "International Men's Health Week" is self-explanatory, with "International" referring to the global scope of the event, "Men's Health" indicating the focus on male health issues, and "Week" denoting the duration of the event.

History

International Men's Health Week was first initiated in 2002 by Men's Health Network (MHN), a non-profit educational organization committed to improving the health and wellness of men. The event is observed in several countries worldwide during the week leading up to and including Father's Day.

Purpose

The primary purpose of IMHW is to promote awareness of preventable health problems among men and boys, and to encourage early detection and treatment of diseases.
