Inferior suprarenal artery
Inferior suprarenal artery
The Inferior suprarenal artery (pronunciation: /ɪnˈfɪər.i.ər ˌsuːprəˈriːnəl ˈɑːr.tər.i/), also known as the inferior adrenal artery, is a blood vessel that supplies the adrenal gland with oxygenated blood.
Etymology
The term "Inferior suprarenal artery" is derived from the Latin words 'inferior' meaning 'lower', 'supra' meaning 'above', 'renal' referring to the kidneys, and 'artery' referring to a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart.
Anatomy
The inferior suprarenal artery is a branch of the renal artery. It travels superiorly to supply the lower part of the adrenal gland. It is one of the three arteries that supply the adrenal gland, the other two being the superior suprarenal artery and the middle suprarenal artery.
