Short definitionhyperfractionated radiation therapy (HY-per-FRAK-shuh-NAY-ted RAY-dee-AY-shun THAYR-uh-pee) Radiation treatment in which the total radiation dose is divided into small doses and the treatments performed more than once a day. Hyperfractionated radiation therapy is given over the same period (days or weeks) as standard radiation therapy.
