Hexoprenaline

Hexoprenaline is a bronchodilator. It is used in the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Hexoprenaline works by relaxing the muscles in the walls of the bronchioles. This action opens the airways and makes it easier to breathe.

Mechanism of Action[edit]

Hexoprenaline is a beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It stimulates the beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the smooth muscle cells in the bronchioles. This stimulation leads to the relaxation of the smooth muscle cells, which in turn opens up the airways.
