Herschend Family Entertainment (HFE) is a privately owned themed entertainment company based in the United States. Herschend Family Entertainment was founded in 1950 by Hugo and Mary Herschend. The company began with the lease of Marvel Cave in Branson, Missouri. Over the years, the Herschend family expanded their operations, transforming the cave into a major tourist attraction and eventually developing it into Silver Dollar City, a theme park that opened in 1960.

The success of Silver Dollar City led to further expansion, and the company began acquiring and developing additional properties. In the 1970s, HFE expanded into Tennessee with the opening of a second Silver Dollar City in Pigeon Forge, which later became Dollywood in partnership with Dolly Parton.
