Files, such as images and other media, can be uploaded and used on a MediaWiki site. This guide will help you understand how to manage files effectively.

Uploading Files[edit]

To upload a file, you need to have the appropriate permissions. If you have these permissions, you will see an "Upload file" link in the toolbox on the left side of the page. Clicking this link will take you to the upload form.

Steps to Upload a File[edit]

1. Select File: Click "Choose file" to select the file from your computer. 2. File Description: Provide a description of the file. This should include information about the content and purpose of the file. 3. Upload: Click the "Upload file" button to complete the process.

Using Files in Articles[edit]

Once a file is uploaded, it can be embedded in articles using the following syntax:

[[File:Example.jpg|thumb|Caption text]]

This will display the file with a thumbnail and a caption.

File Management[edit]

Files can be managed through the "List of uploaded files" page. Here, you can view all files, their descriptions, and their usage across the wiki.

Deleting Files[edit]

Only users with the appropriate permissions can delete files. To delete a file, navigate to the file page and click the "Delete" tab.
