Short definitionGuillain Barre Syndrome (gee-YAN-bah-RAY SIN-drome) A rare condition in which the body's immune system attacks nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of Guillain-Barré syndrome include muscle weakness, muscle pain, numbness, and tingling, which often starts in the legs or back and can spread to the arms, torso, and face.
