Guan Yi
Guan Yi is a renowned epidemiologist and virologist who has made significant contributions to the field of infectious diseases. He is particularly known for his work on avian influenza and coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2.
Early Life and Education
Guan Yi was born in China. He pursued his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Science and Technology of China. He then moved to the United States for his postgraduate studies, where he earned his Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Career
After completing his Ph.D., Guan Yi returned to China and joined the University of Hong Kong as a faculty member. He is currently a professor in the Department of Microbiology and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
