Gossip (/ˈɡɒsɪp/) is the informal exchange of information or discussion about other individuals, often involving details that are not confirmed as being true.
Etymology
The term "gossip" originates from the Old English 'godsibb', which means "godparent". The term was used to describe close friends who engaged in idle talk. The current use of the term has evolved to refer to casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people.
