Glucocerebroside

For example, Gaucher's disease is a genetic disorder that is caused by a deficiency in the enzyme glucocerebrosidase, which is responsible for breaking down glucocerebroside. This leads to the accumulation of glucocerebroside in various organs, causing symptoms such as enlarged liver and spleen, bone pain, and neurological complications.

Niemann-Pick disease is another genetic disorder that is associated with the accumulation of glucocerebroside. In this disease, the enzyme sphingomyelinase is deficient, leading to the accumulation of sphingomyelin and glucocerebroside in various organs.
