Glenfiddich distillery
Glenfiddich Distillery is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery owned by William Grant & Sons in Dufftown, Scotland. Known for its distinctive green triangular bottle, Glenfiddich is one of the world's best-selling single malt whiskies.
History[edit]
The Glenfiddich Distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant, who had learned his craft at Mortlach Distillery. The distillery was built with the help of Grant's seven sons and two daughters. It was a truly family-run enterprise, with Grant's children playing a significant role in its early success.
Production[edit]
Glenfiddich Distillery uses a single source of natural spring water from the nearby Robbie Dhu springs. The distillery has 32 stills, making it one of the largest in Scotland. The whisky is matured in oak casks, including sherry, bourbon and new oak, which gives Glenfiddich its unique flavour profile.
Products[edit]
Glenfiddich produces a wide range of single malt whiskies. The core range includes the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old and 21 Year Old. In addition to these, Glenfiddich also produces limited edition whiskies and a range of special releases.
Awards[edit]
Glenfiddich has received numerous awards for its single malt Scotch whisky. These include the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Visitor Centre[edit]
The Glenfiddich Distillery features a visitor centre, which offers guided tours of the distillery and tastings of the Glenfiddich range. The visitor centre also includes a shop selling Glenfiddich products and a restaurant.
