They serve as the primary healthcare provider for the canton of Geneva and are affiliated with the University of Geneva. The HUG is one of the largest hospital systems in Switzerland and is renowned for its comprehensive healthcare services, research, and teaching.
History[edit]
The Geneva University Hospitals were established in 1995 through the merger of several public hospitals in Geneva. The aim was to create a unified healthcare system that could provide high-quality medical care, conduct advanced research, and offer education and training to medical students and professionals.

The HUG comprises several hospitals and specialized centers, each providing a range of medical services.
Main Hospital[edit]
The main hospital complex is located in the city of Geneva and includes several key buildings:
- Bâtiment Gustave Julliard: This is one of the central buildings of the HUG, housing various medical departments and administrative offices.

- La Rotonde: The main entrance to the hospital, known for its distinctive architectural design.

Specialized Hospitals[edit]
- Hôpital Beau-Séjour: Specializes in rehabilitation and physical medicine.

- Hôpital des Trois-Chênes: Focuses on geriatric care and rehabilitation.

The HUG is also home to several research laboratories that contribute to medical research and innovation.

The Geneva University Hospitals are closely affiliated with the University of Geneva's Faculty of Medicine. They provide clinical training for medical students, residents, and fellows. The HUG is committed to fostering a learning environment that encourages the development of future healthcare professionals.
Notable Events[edit]
